Back in February this year we were so honored to be featured on the UK´s best Wedding Blog- Love My Dress with our a Wild Spanish Elopement shoot. I was just flying off to Thailand in December when Annabel Beeforth Contacted me to say our shoot had been accepted and I was completely ecstatic and so excited to see our hard work feature on my Favorite UK Blog!! You can view the Feature on Love My Dress by clicking through here.
This shoot is very special, so much of it is made up of our own dreams of a wedding in Spain, in reality it was a bit of a fantasy pulled together by myself and two extremely talented ladies from the UK- Beccy from Rebecca Goddard Photography and Frances from Reel Love Films. Beccy and Frances approached me to work on a Shoot in March 2015, 3 months later we were all meeting for the first time in my favourite place in the World, El Palmar on the Costa De La Luz.
First Take a Peek at the amazing Video by Frances from Reel Love Films UK.
A Wild Spanish Elopement
In our first call together Beccy, Frances and I decided to create something quote unique from the standard looking ´Wedding in Spain´. We wanted to show people what could be done beyond your average ´Beach Wedding in Spain´so we created a story, a romantic and wild depiction of young love. ´Young Love Wanderlust´, is inspired by our own love of weddings and our never dying wanderlust to see the world. Both Beccy and Frances are International Wedding vendors with a passion for travel and were keen to travel to Spain to create this editorial. I myself, a brit, love to travel each year and have settled on the wild and unknown SW coast of Spain to create our wedding planning and styling business The Boutique Wedding Co.
When the girls approached me they envisioned a Wild elopement between two young bohemian lovers on a Spanish Cliff Top. Unifying this with my passion to share my favourite Cliff topped beaches, El Palmar the best Surf spot on the Costa de la Luz and the hill top town of Vejer de la Frontera, we have created a beautiful wedding day story that perfectly showcases the wonderful and wild world of the Costa De La Luz, in Andalucia!
Weddings in Vejer de la Frontera and the Costa De La Luz
We wanted to create a wedding day story- two lovers preparing to commit to endless love. Our Wedding day begins in the Hill Top Village of Vejer de la Frontera, our young bride collects her wild and romantic bouquet, contemplates love and walks through the streets of the ancient Moorish town. Down at EL Palmar our young groom enjoys his 2nd love, surfing. Whisked away by their romanticism and passion for each other this young couple Elope to a stunning cliff top and later, entwined in each others arms dine on the beach watching the sun set.
The Wedding Look
We wanted to design an editorial where the location and the landscape did the talking, the Costa De La Luz is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and the prettiest little villages. Our colour palette of Marsala Red, grey/blue and a soft pink are a subtle complement to the natural textures and colours of the shoot. We were keen for the flowers to be wild and natural, super greens mixed with pops of our key colours.
The Wedding Dresses
Our dresses were both so beautiful and captured the bohemian bride look perfectly. First we used the Sara Dress from Limor Rosen. A timeless bohemian dress with a beautiful shape and flow. Hand beaded lace with a nude stretch lining. For our beach shots our bride changed to the Diablo by Rembo Styling, a bohemian two piece with camisole top and a simple lace edged skirt. The flow and look of both dresses is informal and bohemian perfect for a beach wedding.
The Wedding Bouquet and Headress
Our Bouquet was created by John William of JW Design in Marbella, an absolute perfectionist. John has so perfectly captured the colours of the palette and the wild and bohemian look. We tied the bouquet with a long, rough grey/blue ribbon. A special delivery from England, our Floral crown is an epic creation by Nadia and Philippa from Florrie and Eve.
Wedding Styling
For the elopement dinner I wanted to create a unique table setting, vintage chalk-painted pallets, complimented with rich colours and flavours of Spain. Here in the Costa De La Luz we are at the closest point that Europe sits to Africa. With a rich past of Islamic rule, the Moorish influence is so strong in the architecture, food and decor of of the houses here, especaillly around the Village of Vejer. For this reason I wanted to incorporate an ethnic feel to the decor so asked my Dad if I could use his Moroccan style Rugs and cushions! I used the fruit display to infuse the marsala red colour, some antique plates and books from my grandmother, my home died dip dye napkins and plenty of grey/blue accessories. The cake I made at home, it was (before the models devoured it) a banana cake, iced with a rich red buttercream, and the plates were adorned with a fig leaf and succulent. Welcome sweetness after a long day of shooting.
Wedding Hair and Make up
Our soft bohemian beauty look was created by Linda Rise (hair) and Charlotte Lothigius Make up). They work together across Andalucia as a wedding hair and makeup dream team, working to enhance the natural beauty of our US, UK, Irish and Australian brides that choose to marry here!
